Sinemet is a widely used medication that comes in various strengths, including 110 mg, 125 mg, 250 mg, and 275 mg, and it contains two active ingredients: Levodopa and Carbidopa. Take this medication with or without meals, twice daily. Sinemet tablet is disintegrating tablet that begins to release its components 30 minutes after you take it. Swallow the extended-release capsule or sustained-release tablet whole.
Some products that may interact with this medication include antipsychotic medicines (such as chlorpromazine, haloperidol, and thioridazine) and specific remedies used to treat increased blood pressure (methyldopa). Taking MAO inhibitors and this medication may cause a severe (possibly fatal) drug interaction.
Following are some side effects of Sinemet:
Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, problem sleeping, unusual dreams, or headache may occur. Inform your doctor immediately if any of these effects last or get worse. This medicine may cause saliva, urine, or sweat to turn dark.
Notify your doctor immediately if you are facing any severe side effects, including new/worsening movements you can’t control/spasms, significantly increased eye blinking/twitching, fainting, eyesight changes (such as blurred vision, double vision), eye ache, severe stomach/abdominal discomfort, black/tarry stools, vomit that looks like.
Quitting Sinemet abruptly or reducing your dosage can cause a life-threatening situation similar to neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Stopping Sinemet “cold turkey” can provoke life-threatening symptoms, such as dangerously high fever or hyperpyrexia. Confusion.
Symptoms of abusing this medication may include severe dizziness, irregular heartbeat, and mental/mood shifts (such as agitation).
Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original package to protect it from light and moisture. This medicinal product does not need any special temperature storage conditions. Please keep it away from small children.
Usually Sinemet dosage depends upon the condition and severity of the disease. The starting dose of Sinemet is one tablet 2 to 3 times a day. Dosage should take between 4 to 8 hours, the max dose of Sinemet is 200mg a day. You should not take more than that as it may cause some serious side effects.
